While we have a great tradition of firework festivals here in the U.S., especially on the Fourth of July and on New Year’s Year, we are not alone in our love of firework displays. Around the world, people from all walks of life and different cultural backgrounds enjoy magnificent firework performances and competitions throughout the year. Let’s take a tour of some of the most impressive firework festivals that will light up the sky in every corner of the globe.
Just to the north of us, the Canadians have a great love for the beauty of the firework display. There are several festivals that are worth visiting for the best fireworks around. Some of these include the Montreal Firework Festival held between June and August, the GlobalFest International Firework Festival in Calgary and the Celebration of Light in Vancouver, B.C.
Next, we head south of the border to our neighbors in Mexico. Most of the fireworks available in the U.S. are made in Mexico, so it should be no surprise that they have their own festive events to display the best fireworks in the world. In Tultepec, there is a national festival that lasts for an entire week, featuring a fierce competition of the top firework displays.
Going west for thousands of miles across the Pacific Ocean, Manila, Philippines hosts the World Pro Olympics festival. This brings together the top firework companies in the world to compete over a five-day spectacular event, culminating in a mass performance on the final day for everyone to enjoy.
Across the pond of the Atlantic, England has its own firework festival to impress the masses. The Firework Champions festival faces off top firework teams against each other in timed displays set to music. This is a particularly fun event for spectators as they get to participate in selecting the winners by texting in their favorite team displays.
Japan has some phenomenal firework festivals that light up the sky with amazing pyrotechnics. Three that have impressive displays are the Nagaoka, Kounoso and Akagawa firework festivals. These are not your average firework performances; you will see intricate designs and timing that are some of the best in the world.
Of course, you don’t have to travel all around the world to find fabulous firework festivals. Although it is fun to experience fireworks in other countries, there are plenty of great festivals in the U.S. For example, in Michigan, there is a three day Bay City Fireworks Festival leading up to the Fourth of July, with firework performances every night, culminating in the big finale on the Fourth.
Although it is incredible to visit these large firework festivals and performances, there is something to be said about creating your own personal firework show. You can make your own firework festival in your own backyard with a quick shopping trip to one of our many Alamo Firework stores for the latest and greatest in retail fireworks.
